Funding Renewal for Disability Sports Northern Territory
Disability Sports Northern Territory (DSNT) is thrilled to announce renewal of funding from the Northern Territory Government for the 2024/25 financial year.
This funding supports our efforts to increase sport participation for people with disability throughout the Territory. Over the coming year, our focus will continue in four key areas.
A Tiered Partnerships Program will see DSNT collaborate with major sporting bodies to develop and implement adaptive sports programs. This will ensure increased participation and accessibility for individuals with disabilities.
Development opportunities will bolster the confidence and skills of coaches and sports administrators, growing their skills to deliver high-quality programs for participants with disabilities. We will also review existing programs to enhance training quality and effectiveness.
Participation pathways for youth will see greater clarity and coordination within the disability sport sector, with a goal of fostering sector-wide improvements.
Additionally, a new partnership with Sport4All will address the need for universally designed and accessible sporting facilities in the NT. The focus will be on improving facility accessibility and expanding local opportunities for community sports participation.
Sam Cunningham, Business Unit Manager of Disability Sports Northern Territory, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming year, he said:
“It is exciting to continue to work with our sports partners and participants across the Northern Territory to increase active participation for people with disabilities. The continued support from the NT Government and our key stakeholders, along with our new Sport4All partnership, will greatly contribute to the growth of active participation throughout the Territory.”
We look forward to continuing our momentum and achieving new milestones towards making sport more inclusive and accessible for all.
